What the webinar is about

We will study both the outside and inside of the horse’s foot using actual cadaver feet. I have many examples that have been sliced in different ways, allowing you to build a clear 3D picture in your mind. After this class, you’ll never look at a hoof the same way again (in the best sense!).

I also have beautiful plastinates from Dr. Von Horst in Germany, along with freeze-dried sections. In addition, I’ll use models from Professor Pollitt to help you truly understand the workings of the foot.

This course is designed for a basic level, but we’ll go deeper as we progress. It’s suitable for horse owners, curious enthusiasts, farriers, vets, and trimmers—there’s something here for everyone.

We will cover:

  • The outer hoof capsule: wall, bars, frog, and white line
  • The inner foot: bones, ligaments, and tendons
  • The laminae, with an introduction to laminitis
  • Blood supply: the coriums and their purpose
  • The digital cushion
  • The navicular bone, its bursa and ligaments, and why it becomes damaged

One of the best parts of the live class is the chance to ask questions and get clarifications in real time.

You’re also welcome to send me questions after class or after watching the recording.
